To help healthcare organizations thrive in the new reality of virtual care, Pexip is pleased to announce that it is reinforcing its commitment to telehealth with the launch of Pexip Health.

Building on Pexip’s long-standing work in the healthcare space, Pexip Health allows healthcare providers to extend the reach of their practice by providing secure, easy-to-join video visits for patients from any device or location.

Trusted by healthcare organizations around the world

Today’s healthcare organizations need secure, high-quality video that fits seamlessly into their daily workflows. Pexip’s video platform was designed with these tenets in mind, and is already powering more than 600,000 virtual visits a week for leading hospitals and health systems in North America.

With roots in the telehealth space dating back to 2013, Pexip has significantly grown its healthcare business through the years to include some of the largest providers in the world with unprecedented usage and scale.

  • The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)’s Video Connect app is built on Pexip’s platform. In 2020, the app reached 170,000 weekly video visits at the peak of usage in 2020, and demand scaled 1000% in response to the pandemic.
  • Pexip also powers telehealth for the U.S. Defense Health Agency (DHA) to enable telehealth for all active duty military members. Combined with VA, every person who wears, or has ever worn, a military uniform in the United States has access to virtual care powered by Pexip.
  • The largest nonprofit healthcare delivery system in the United States uses Pexip as the backbone of its telehealth application. During the first few weeks of the pandemic, Pexip supported an 800% increase in utilization on its platform.
  • In Australia, Queensland Health started working with Pexip in 2016 to create a customized telehealth platform called the Queensland Telehealth Virtual Clinic. In 2020, Pexip helped the clinic increase the number of simultaneous external video calls by 1600%.
  • The Northern Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland uses Pexip solutions at several of their facilities, including Clark Clinic, which offers telemedicine for children receiving treatment in pediatric cardiology, and a gestational diabetes unit, which provides remote care for pregnant women unable to travel for frequent appointments.

In addition to hospitals and health systems, Pexip is the backbone powering telehealth for service providers including Amwell, Visuwell, and Caregility.

“Choosing the right vendor for how you deliver care is crucial.  Your patients will rely on this platform. An outage is no different than a locked door at the clinic. Pexip Health has demonstrated unmatched security, scalability and reliability in healthcare. Your patients and clinicians deserve that assurance."

- Angie Stevens, CEO, Virtual Insights and Former Executive Director of Telehealth, Kaiser Permanente

Pexip Health brings focused resources to accelerate healthcare adoption

With the shift to virtual care and the demand for video delivery platforms, Pexip Health aims to bring more visibility to how our healthcare solutions can help organizations succeed. Pexip’s video platform is designed with security in mind, customizable, and easy to use. With proven scalability, it is designed for mid-sized to large hospitals and can help fuel their adoption and growth of virtual care.

Regardless of whether you’re just getting started or ready to expand telehealth, Pexip can help. Our commitment is evident on two key fronts: Investing in people and product innovation.

People:

We have expanded the team focused solely on the healthcare market, bringing more knowledge and skills to help organizations solve their toughest telehealth challenges. Our team is supported by consultant Angie Stevens, former executive director of telehealth at Kaiser Permanente and CEO of Virtual Insights, LLC, as well as Andrew Henshaw, grants expert and owner at AH Henshaw, LLC. With this team in place, and in combination with its global channel partner community, Pexip will use customer and market feedback to identify needs and develop products to meet them.

Secure and private

Pexip meets the highest privacy and security standards with AES-256 encryption whether organizations choose a self-hosted or as-a-service option. The recently launched Pexip Private Cloud deployment option also gives healthcare organizations the ease and scalability of a shared cloud with the control, security, and privacy of a self-hosted solution, enabling  adherence with strict regulatory compliance. Pexip is the first and currently only video communications company to bring such a deployment option to the healthcare market.

“Previously, we had to manually add ad-hoc consultations and it was difficult to manage high volumes of clinical sessions because we didn’t have the telehealth infrastructure to support this. With Pexip, not only could we maximise the potential of our existing solutions, we could also avoid potential technology barriers between Queensland Health and people’s homes. We can now scale to coordinate and manage hundreds of patients via video conference outside of our network.”

Customizable and integrated

Pexip works seamlessly with the technologies you already own, simplifying workflows to make it easy to schedule and launch virtual visits. With a native integration with Epic EHR, a video visit can be launched directly from within Epic, making it easier to start a scheduled meeting or dial out to a third party for a second opinion. Physicians can start video visits directly from Hyperspace while continuing to document case notes in Epic. Providers can also greet patients from a familiar branded interface through custom branding options and APIs.

“Pexip is a critical part of our video delivery stack because it gives us flexibility to create next-generation healthcare experiences that are customized around patient care and not just off-the-shelf video conferencing plugins.”

- Mike Baird, former president, Customer Solutions, Amwell.

Simple and easy to use

With Pexip, patients can meet their caregivers from the comfort of their homes, using the devices they already own. There is no need to download an application, and patients can launch a video visit simply by clicking a link in their web browser.

“Often vendors claim to understand the unique needs of healthcare, Pexip Health proved it.  The scalability of their platform and support of their services team were vital during the most challenging time of the pandemic.”

- Angie Stevens, CEO, Virtual Insights and Former Executive Director of Telehealth, Kaiser Permanente

As hospitals and health systems plan for what’s next, Pexip stands ready to help them with secure, easy-to-use video conferencing to support their telehealth programs. To learn more about Pexip Health or speak with a member of the team, please visit pexip.com/healthcare
