Award recognizes Pexip’s purpose-built video solution to support virtual and hybrid courts around the world.

Technology has ushered us into a new era in the judicial system, one in which court proceedings don’t necessarily require a physical presence in the courtroom. The pandemic accelerated this trend even faster than expected, and today hybrid court hearings are enabling people to participate  in court proceedings through video conferencing, paving the way for speedier trials at lower costs, and extending the reach of justice to all equitably.

Pexip Virtual Courts, a video technology solution launched in 2022, is helping judiciaries around the world adapt and embrace new, digital possibilities for their proceedings. For this reason, Frost & Sullivan has named Pexip’s product the solution winner of the 2023 Customer Value Leadership Award in the category "Global Video Collaboration Solutions for Judiciaries."

Pexip Virtual Courts has experienced significant momentum since launch. Its order pipeline has grown by 359% from organizations including supreme courts, high courts, district courts, and subordinate courts. The solution is part of Pexip’s Video Innovation unit, which has grown 18% year-over-year, and builds on the company’s existing work with 30+ judicial systems around the world, including Her Majesty Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) in England and Wales. In HMCTS alone, the Pexip platform hosts as many as 5,500 concurrent participants in a single court hearing.

On a mission to make virtual courts better than in-person

“In the short lifespan of our Virtual Courts solution, we’ve understood that access to a simple video conferencing solution simply doesn’t cut it in court,” says Thomas Edberg, Vice President CTO Office, Pexip.

“That’s why we have built a virtual court product that actually mirrors the proceedings, giving the court the ability to host many participants, place people in virtual waiting rooms, meet high privacy and security requirements, and ensure that anyone can connect no matter their device or bandwidth limitations,” he adds.

Click to enter the courtroom

Pexip Virtual Courts is an easy-to-use solution that allows participants to simply click a link to get access – from any type of device or video conference system. With security at its core, Pexip ensures industry-standard encryption and security protocols for all proceedings, and its solution can be delivered as a self-hosted or cloud-based service.

“We see that there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all in the various judicial systems around the world – which means that courts need a solution that’s customizable and manageable. We tailor our solution to meet a court system’s needs, which includes integration with third-party applications,” says Edberg.

Frost & Sullivan recognizes Pexip’s customer focus

The criteria for this award covered both business impact and customer impact. Pexip is recognized for its strong overall performance in both categories.

“Hybrid courts are here to stay. However, courts, across the world, are facing a myriad of challenges,” said Roopam Jain, VP of Research, Connected Work, for Frost & Sullivan.

She continued, “Pexip realizes the many challenges that exist within the court system. The Pexip Virtual Courts solution addresses the growing need to reevaluate how courts can increase efficiency and improve processes on a large scale.”
