Videxio and Pexip Announce Intention to Merge

The two companies, successful in their own right, plan to join forces to create an industry powerhouse that will offer a unique range of collaboration products and services

Oslo, Norway, October 8th, 2018 – Two leading innovators in the enterprise collaboration market, Videxio and Pexip, today announced their intention to merge. Videxio, founded in 2011, is a global provider of cloud video conferencing and collaboration with solutions that fit companies and organizations of all sizes, from start-ups to enterprises. The company has been profitable since 2014 and has grown Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) by more than 270% over the previous three years while paid user traffic has grown over 875% during the same period. Pexip, founded in 2012, provides a software-based meeting platform that is designed for cloud and used both as a dedicated enterprise application and a service provider platform. Pexip Infinity is a Microsoft-certified interoperability solution for both Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams. In 2018, Google Cloud partnered with Pexip to enable interoperability to Google Hangouts Meet. The company has been profitable since 2016 and has almost tripled ARR over the previous three years. Both organizations are privately held.

“The Collaboration market is estimated to have a value of $35 billion US dollars and is growing at 26% annually as enterprises adopt cloud technology at a rapid pace. Due to the accessibility of cloud-based collaboration services, more organizations than ever before have access to visual communication tools,” said Odd Sverre Østlie, CEO of Pexip. “We know that many organizations prefer a dedicated deployment with tight integration into their IT network, and over time want to combine this with cloud scalability. Others prefer a flexible public cloud service. A merger between Videxio and Pexip will put us in a unique position to offer a product portfolio that will meet the needs of a broader range of users while we continue to introduce innovative solutions to the market. The joint sales and channel organization will ensure wider coverage, while the more diversified customer base will create an even more sustainable and robust business offering.”

“As one of the Co-Founders of Videxio, I am extremely excited at the prospect of this merger,” said Tom-Erik Lia, CEO of Videxio. “The two companies are a great fit from a technology standpoint, as well as a people and culture perspective. We will continue to offer and develop the existing product portfolio while building on the best elements from both companies. We have an outstanding team and for them, the merger will create an exciting environment filled with new challenges and opportunities to grow, develop and innovate. Our channel partners will gain access to a broader portfolio of products and services to best address their customers’ collaboration requirements while our customers will enjoy a wider range of solutions and continued innovation.”

Upon finalization of the merger, the combined company will be called Pexip and will continue to serve more than 300 partners globally, and with users in more than 195 countries. It will be led by a strong leadership and founder team from both companies, with Odd Sverre Østlie as the CEO. Tom-Erik Lia will take on the role as Chief Commercial Officer.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, following regulatory clearances and shareholder approval.

Pexip announces availability of its Microsoft-certified video interoperability platform for Microsoft Teams

Cloud enterprise application enables professional video conferencing systems to join Microsoft Teams meetings

New York, NY., September 25, 2018 – Pexip, the award-winning video conferencing and collaboration platform vendor, today announced the availability of its Cloud Video Interoperability (CVI) solution for Microsoft Teams. The Microsoft-certified solution allows professional video conferencing systems to connect with Microsoft Teams meetings, extending the use of Teams. Pexip CVI for Microsoft Teams takes advantage of Pexip’s unique cloud deployment capabilities and addresses the growing requirement of organizations regarding data ownership and control.

With Pexip Infinity for Microsoft Teams, professional video conferencing systems can join Teams meetings.

“We are very excited to embark on this next-level journey with Microsoft and provide capabilities that further extend the use of Microsoft Teams in the enterprise,” said Odd Sverre Østlie, CEO at Pexip. “Pexip products are used by some of the most demanding organizations with their Skype for Business deployments. Adding the capabilities for Microsoft Teams to the Pexip platform facilitates a unique migration path for customers.”

Industries with compliance demands such as financial services, healthcare, and government and public sector often have stringent data control requirements. As a cloud enterprise application, Pexip can be operated in any private or public cloud service and is optimized for use in Azure government cloud and similar federal cloud services. Pexip can also run on-premises in an organization’s data center, or in a combination of all these platforms.

Pexip already delivers a Microsoft-certified video interoperability solution for Skype for Business. The new capabilities add to the existing software and provide video, audio, and content-sharing between professional group video conferencing systems and Microsoft Teams meetings.

The seamless integration through Pexip’s CVI enables existing VTC systems to easily connect to audio, video, and content sharing in Teams meetings.
– Bhrighu  Sareen, General Manager, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Corp

“Pexip’s Cloud Video Interoperability (CVI) platform allows more people to connect and collaborate through Microsoft Teams,” said Bhrighu  Sareen, General Manager, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Corp. “The seamless integration through Pexip’s CVI enables existing VTC systems to easily connect to audio, video, and content sharing in Teams meetings.”

Protecting and retaining the native user experience is fundamental to the Pexip solution. Pexip CVI for Microsoft Teams is transparent to the end user, meaning video conferencing systems joining a Microsoft Teams meeting are seen and managed just like any other Microsoft Teams participant. Similarly, on the video conferencing side, the meeting is a standard video meeting with audio, video, and content sharing.

Pexip CVI for Microsoft Teams will be available on October 19th, 2018. It will be demonstrated at Microsoft Ignite in Orlando, Florida, from September 24-28.

Pexip® Infinity Fusion Certified as Interoperability Solution for Microsoft Skype for Business Server

Pexip software earns Microsoft certification

OSLO, Norway, and NEW YORK, Aug 1, 2017 – Pexip announced its Infinity Fusion product was certified by Microsoft as a video interoperability solution for Skype for Business Server today. Pexip Infinity Fusion allows Skype for Business meetings and calls to be joined by non-Skype users using video teleconferencing.

Pexip collaborated with Microsoft in the certification of the latest version of Infinity Fusion, which features a gateway mode allowing VTCs to participate directly in Skype conferences. Importantly, Fusion retains the native end-user experience, eliminating the need for expensive trainings and lowering the cost of implementation and management. The software is designed for any size organization, and specifically with large companies and enterprises in mind, and is able to scale and accommodate any number of users in any number of locations. Pexip Infinity Fusion is certified for on-premises Skype for Business Server 2015 deployments.

“Pexip is being used by some of the world’s largest companies to provide cross-technology video interoperability. The certification and partnership reinforces the strength and capabilities of our industry-leading technology,” says Åsmund O. Fodstad, Pexip CEO.

“Pexip is a valued Microsoft partner. We are pleased to see Pexip certify its Infinity Fusion interoperability solution for Skype for Business and extend the Skype communications experience for organizations to achieve more,” said Andrew Bybee, Principal GPM, Skype for Business, Microsoft.

Nick Seagrave, CTO at Modality Systems – Microsoft 2016 Communications Partner of the Year – is equally excited: “We have worked with Pexip on numerous projects, and Infinity Fusion continues to impress. It is an extremely flexible interoperability solution to both deploy and align with customer requirements. We have found it to be performing very well, and look forward to being able to feature it as certified for Skype for Business.” Modality Systems have also been part of the Technology Adoption Program prior to certification.

Pexip Infinity Fusion addresses very specific needs for many Microsoft customers. Key to the certification is interoperability that allows non-Skype users to communicate via video with Skype for Business users. Beyond the core Skype for Business interoperability that the certification tests, Fusion has a variety of deployment options, which allow it to scale to a large range of users and locations. It can be deployed to run completely on-premises, in a cloud such as Microsoft Azure, or in a combination of the two. In addition, its existence is completely transparent to the end user – resulting in potentially large savings on training, implementation, and management costs.

Pexip Infinity Fusion is certified for use with Skype for Business Server starting from version 15.1, which is available now worldwide. For more information, please visit www.pexip.com

SfB Broadcast – Episode 49: 3 ways to bring your VTC into a modern meeting

Latest Skype Broadcast features Pexip

Episode 49 of Microsoft’s popular Skype for Business Broadcast featured Pexip’s VP of Strategic Alliances, Eddie Clifton. Meeting up with Microsoft Skype for Business Sr. Product Marketing Manager Delanda Coleman, the two had a great conversation about how to bring your existing VTC into modern meetings.

You can watch the 40-minute show here:

As the conversation emerges, Clifton and Coleman dicuss the ever-present importance of system interoperabilityscalability and user experience, and outline some of the challenges met by enterprises.

In addition, the conversation covers the three most common ways to add existing videoconferencing users to Skype meetings:

  • Joining a scheduled Skype meeting
  • Making an ad-hoc point-to-point call in either direction
  • Escalating a conversation by dragging and dropping a VTC user from the Contacts list into a call

Ending with Q&A

As the SfB Broadcast is a live event, and broadcast from Microsoft’s Redmond campus, it ends with a Q&A session answering questions that have been asked during the show, covering such topics as pricing and licensing models, Outlook scheduling, if one needs to use plugins, and much more.
