Videxio and Pexip Announce Intention to Merge

The two companies, successful in their own right, plan to join forces to create an industry powerhouse that will offer a unique range of collaboration products and services

Oslo, Norway, October 8th, 2018 – Two leading innovators in the enterprise collaboration market, Videxio and Pexip, today announced their intention to merge. Videxio, founded in 2011, is a global provider of cloud video conferencing and collaboration with solutions that fit companies and organizations of all sizes, from start-ups to enterprises. The company has been profitable since 2014 and has grown Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) by more than 270% over the previous three years while paid user traffic has grown over 875% during the same period. Pexip, founded in 2012, provides a software-based meeting platform that is designed for cloud and used both as a dedicated enterprise application and a service provider platform. Pexip Infinity is a Microsoft-certified interoperability solution for both Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams. In 2018, Google Cloud partnered with Pexip to enable interoperability to Google Hangouts Meet. The company has been profitable since 2016 and has almost tripled ARR over the previous three years. Both organizations are privately held.

“The Collaboration market is estimated to have a value of $35 billion US dollars and is growing at 26% annually as enterprises adopt cloud technology at a rapid pace. Due to the accessibility of cloud-based collaboration services, more organizations than ever before have access to visual communication tools,” said Odd Sverre Østlie, CEO of Pexip. “We know that many organizations prefer a dedicated deployment with tight integration into their IT network, and over time want to combine this with cloud scalability. Others prefer a flexible public cloud service. A merger between Videxio and Pexip will put us in a unique position to offer a product portfolio that will meet the needs of a broader range of users while we continue to introduce innovative solutions to the market. The joint sales and channel organization will ensure wider coverage, while the more diversified customer base will create an even more sustainable and robust business offering.”

“As one of the Co-Founders of Videxio, I am extremely excited at the prospect of this merger,” said Tom-Erik Lia, CEO of Videxio. “The two companies are a great fit from a technology standpoint, as well as a people and culture perspective. We will continue to offer and develop the existing product portfolio while building on the best elements from both companies. We have an outstanding team and for them, the merger will create an exciting environment filled with new challenges and opportunities to grow, develop and innovate. Our channel partners will gain access to a broader portfolio of products and services to best address their customers’ collaboration requirements while our customers will enjoy a wider range of solutions and continued innovation.”

Upon finalization of the merger, the combined company will be called Pexip and will continue to serve more than 300 partners globally, and with users in more than 195 countries. It will be led by a strong leadership and founder team from both companies, with Odd Sverre Østlie as the CEO. Tom-Erik Lia will take on the role as Chief Commercial Officer.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, following regulatory clearances and shareholder approval.

A demonstration of Pexip Infinity for Microsoft Teams

At the recent Microsoft Ignite conference, Pexip announced the imminent release of Infinity for Microsoft Teams. In short, it allows third-party video conferencing systems and devices, as well as WebRTC-based video clients from any web browser, to join Microsoft Teams meetings with full video, audio, and content-sharing capabilities.

Pexip’s Graham Walsh, Director of Solutions Architecture, spent a few minutes demonstrating the platform’s capabilities, including the two-way content sharing:

In his demonstration, four systems join the Microsoft Teams meeting:

  • Microsoft Surface Hub – using the recently released native Teams client – joins as a native Teams client
  • Cisco MX300 joining remotely from the Pexip NYC office
  • Cisco DX 80 desktop system from within the Pexip booth
  • Cisco Spark Room Kit small room system from within the Pexip booth

Capabilities and demonstration

Pexip Infinity features numerous essential capabilities that make it ideal as a companion for Microsoft Teams, including:

  • Native user experience for all participating systems
  • Full HD video quality
  • Native dual-channel, bi-directional content sharing between all attached systems and clients
  • Native rosters, status indicators, and much more

Importantly, with content sharing, the complicated wording means you can share from a video conferencing system to Microsoft Teams clients, and, moreover, content shared from a Teams client to a video conferencing system shows on two separate screens where applicable.

Just like a video conferencing user expects.

Migrating from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams

In Graham’s 2nd demonstration he looks at how the Pexip Infinity platform is ideal for use with both Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams at the same time. Regardless of if an organization has Skype for Business Server or Online, Infinity can seamlessly handle both Skype and Teams meeting side by side.

This functionality is ideal for organizations that carefully plan their migration path, and shift users by department, geography, or otherwise.

Pexip Infinity for Microsoft Teams becomes generally available on October 19th, 2018.

Pexip announces availability of its Microsoft-certified video interoperability platform for Microsoft Teams

Cloud enterprise application enables professional video conferencing systems to join Microsoft Teams meetings

New York, NY., September 25, 2018 – Pexip, the award-winning video conferencing and collaboration platform vendor, today announced the availability of its Cloud Video Interoperability (CVI) solution for Microsoft Teams. The Microsoft-certified solution allows professional video conferencing systems to connect with Microsoft Teams meetings, extending the use of Teams. Pexip CVI for Microsoft Teams takes advantage of Pexip’s unique cloud deployment capabilities and addresses the growing requirement of organizations regarding data ownership and control.

With Pexip Infinity for Microsoft Teams, professional video conferencing systems can join Teams meetings.

“We are very excited to embark on this next-level journey with Microsoft and provide capabilities that further extend the use of Microsoft Teams in the enterprise,” said Odd Sverre Østlie, CEO at Pexip. “Pexip products are used by some of the most demanding organizations with their Skype for Business deployments. Adding the capabilities for Microsoft Teams to the Pexip platform facilitates a unique migration path for customers.”

Industries with compliance demands such as financial services, healthcare, and government and public sector often have stringent data control requirements. As a cloud enterprise application, Pexip can be operated in any private or public cloud service and is optimized for use in Azure government cloud and similar federal cloud services. Pexip can also run on-premises in an organization’s data center, or in a combination of all these platforms.

Pexip already delivers a Microsoft-certified video interoperability solution for Skype for Business. The new capabilities add to the existing software and provide video, audio, and content-sharing between professional group video conferencing systems and Microsoft Teams meetings.

The seamless integration through Pexip’s CVI enables existing VTC systems to easily connect to audio, video, and content sharing in Teams meetings.
– Bhrighu  Sareen, General Manager, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Corp

“Pexip’s Cloud Video Interoperability (CVI) platform allows more people to connect and collaborate through Microsoft Teams,” said Bhrighu  Sareen, General Manager, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Corp. “The seamless integration through Pexip’s CVI enables existing VTC systems to easily connect to audio, video, and content sharing in Teams meetings.”

Protecting and retaining the native user experience is fundamental to the Pexip solution. Pexip CVI for Microsoft Teams is transparent to the end user, meaning video conferencing systems joining a Microsoft Teams meeting are seen and managed just like any other Microsoft Teams participant. Similarly, on the video conferencing side, the meeting is a standard video meeting with audio, video, and content sharing.

Pexip CVI for Microsoft Teams will be available on October 19th, 2018. It will be demonstrated at Microsoft Ignite in Orlando, Florida, from September 24-28.

Østlie has previously worked for McKinsey, Tandberg, and Cisco, and was most recently CEO of Kinly, a recent merger of Viju Group and VisionsConnected. Østlie said, “Throughout my career I’ve been excited about visual communication and collaboration technologies. That’s what my time in Kinly has been about as a system integrator and service provider. I am now thrilled to join the leading independent technology provider in this space – it feels like coming home.”

Åsmund O. Fodstad, who has served as CEO for the last two and a half years, will focus on Strategic Partnerships and will continue to be part of the Executive Management Team. Pexip to Demonstrate Video Interoperability for Microsoft Teams at Enterprise Connect

Cloud Enterprise Application Allows Customers To Continue Use Of Standards-Based Video Conferencing As They Transition To Teams

New York, March 12, 2018 – Pexip will demonstrate its new Video Teleconferencing (VTC) interoperability solution for Microsoft Teams at Enterprise Connect 2018. The solution allows non-Microsoft users to join Teams meetings and is based on the company’s successful Skype for Business interoperability solution. The cloud enterprise application is specifically beneficial for enterprises that require control over their UC environments.

As organizations transition from Skype for Business to Teams, they want to continue using the standards-based video teleconferencing (VTC) systems they already have. With Pexip, organizations can extend their Teams meetings to include VTC systems as if they were standard Teams participants. Both Teams and VTC meeting participants will benefit from their expected native meeting experiences, preserving how they consume video, audio and content sharing.

Pexip has been collaborating closely with Microsoft in the development of a cloud video interoperability solution for Teams since it was announced at Microsoft Ignite in September 2017.

A priority in making VTC interoperability available for Teams is to ensure continuity of functionality for customers, making it seamless and easy for organizations to start using Teams. Companies that already use Pexip will be able to continue to use a single application with both Skype for Business and Teams without the need to run parallel environments. Moreover, as a cloud enterprise application, Pexip gives customers complete control of their conferencing environment—with audio, video and content in dedicated cloud application instances rather than sharing services with other organizations as is the case with standard SaaS solutions. With dedicated instances comes full control of IT administration rights, versioning, Quality of Service, and integrations, which is extremely important in today’s complex communications environments.

“With Pexip, it is a given that users should be able to use the device of their choice to join modern meetings. Providing VTC interoperability for Microsoft Teams is key to reaching that goal.”
–  Odd Sverre Østlie, Pexip CEO

“In just the past few years, the video communications market has become extremely complex with an abundance of offerings. Despite what vendors say, it is becoming more difficult for end users to provide true any-to-any collaboration solutions.” said Odd Sverre Østlie, Pexip CEO. “With Pexip, it is a given that users should be able to use the device of their choice to join modern meetings. Providing VTC interoperability for Microsoft Teams is key to reaching that goal.”

Pexip already has a Microsoft certified interoperability solution for Skype for Business so we are looking forward to expanding that functionality to our customers moving to Teams.
– Bob Davis, Corporate Vice President, Office 365 Engineering at Microsoft Corp.

Bob Davis, Corporate Vice President, Office 365 Engineering at Microsoft Corp. said, “Pexip is working to bring VTC interoperability for Microsoft Teams to market. Pexip already has a Microsoft certified interoperability solution for Skype for Business so we are looking forward to expanding that functionality to our customers moving to Teams.”

Pexip Infinity is a cloud enterprise application that enterprises use to overcome their video communications interoperability challenges, and to extend the use of video to everyone inside or outside their organization. With focus on scalability, control, and ease of use and integration with other systems, it is used by leading organizations worldwide.

Pexip Infinity for Teams is planned to become available during the second half of 2018. For a full demo of this and other solutions, you can meet with Pexip at Enterprise Connect in Orlando, Florida, Booth #801 from March 12 – 14.

Pexip video interoperability for Microsoft Teams

Enable VTC systems to join Microsoft Teams meetings

Pexip video interoperability for Microsoft Teams was demonstrated at Enterprise Connect 2018.

Last year, when Microsoft announced its plan to retire Skype for Business Online and make Microsoft Teams the new platform for intelligent communications in Office 365, many companies started to think about how to integrate Teams into their ways of working.

As Pexip already delivers a Microsoft-certified interoperability solution for Skype for Business, we were pleased to announce that we will also do the same for Microsoft Teams.

At Enterprise Connect in March, as well as at InfoComm in June and Microsoft Inspire in July, we have made multiple public demonstrations of how it works: the join experience from a video system, content sharing, video performance, and more. The video above shows the demonstration as it could be seen both in the Pexip and Microsoft booths at these events.

Pexip video interoperability for Microsoft Teams was demonstrated in the Microsoft booth at Enterprise Connect 2018.

Skype for Business has firmly established itself within corporate communications and positioned itself alongside traditional video conferencing for business meetings. As we all know, these solutions don’t easily work together, so vendors such as Pexip have helped solve these interoperability challenges. In fact, 9 out of 10 requests that Pexip receive from customers are related to interoperability in one way or another.

Migrate from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams with video interoperability intact

If you are already familiar with Pexip Infinity video interoperability for Skype for Business and want to benefit from the same functionality for Microsoft Teams, it will be as simple as performing an upgrade and applying appropriate licensing keys when it becomes available. Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams can run in parallel on the Pexip platform, so you won’t have to worry about multiple Pexip deployments in addition to your migration plans from Skype to Teams.

Pexip video interoperability for Microsoft Teams is scheduled for release in 2018. This article includes forward-looking statements about features and functionality that may change in a final version of the product.
