Bridging the Zoom - Teams divide: How a financial institution modernized collaboration with Pexip
About the customer
Our customer is an established financial institution that has long been committed to delivering a seamless meeting experience across its more than 50 conference rooms. According to the company’s dedicated End-User Experience Engineer, who leads their efforts to enhance room performance, they have been at the forefront of adopting innovative meeting technologies that support both internal and external communications.
Challenges faced
The customer improved their conference room setup with Zoom Rooms, but as Teams meetings increased, poor video quality and frequent issues during executive meetings revealed the need for a more reliable solution that supports both platforms seamlessly.
Results
With Pexip, the institution’s Zoom Rooms now connect seamlessly to Microsoft Teams meetings, delivering high-quality video, smooth content sharing, and a consistent user experience. Meeting disruptions have dropped, IT no longer gets urgent calls, and overall productivity and communication have improved.
The challenge
During the pandemic, the organization standardized its video meetings on Zoom for its efficient IP packet handling, ensuring high-quality video even for low-bandwidth branches of the company. Initially, their conference rooms were disorganized with cables everywhere, and setting up a room was a lengthy process. Switching to Zoom Rooms on the Poly Studio series reduced setup time to just 30 minutes.
As Microsoft Teams gained popularity, meeting volumes shifted from 6,000 to 7,000 monthly Zoom meetings to an almost even split between Zoom and Teams. The initial solution for Teams meetings, Direct Guest Join, delivered low-resolution video and limited features, causing significant disruptions during high-stakes meetings. In several instances, top executives experienced black screens and content-sharing issues mid-meeting, prompting urgent calls to the engineer for explanations and solutions.
This prompted the need for a more reliable, high-quality solution that could seamlessly support both Zoom and Teams in conference rooms.
Solution
The team evaluated Pexip as a potential remedy to these challenges. Pexip’s approach offered a seamless integration into their existing Zoom Rooms setup – with only a few simple changes in the Zoom admin portal, the solution was activated. This simplicity, combined with Pexip’s ability to meet rigorous regulatory requirements (documented encryption methods, secure data transfer, and compliance with industry standards), made it the clear choice.

Once activated, Pexip integrated flawlessly into the existing workflow, ensuring that meetings – whether hosted on Zoom or Teams – are reliable and interruption-free.
The results
Since deploying Pexip, the financial institution has enjoyed noticeable improvements in meeting quality and overall user satisfaction. End users report a significant enhancement in their meeting experience: content sharing works seamlessly across dual screens, and the high-quality video and audio have reduced the frequency of technical interruptions.
“All our Teams meetings in the conference rooms have significantly improved,” the Engineer explains, adding that he is no longer called in to troubleshoot during critical meetings.
With fewer disruptions and consistent user experience, the institution has boosted productivity and enhanced internal as well as external communications.
Looking ahead
Looking ahead, this financial institution plans to continue leveraging Pexip’s robust capabilities to support evolving meeting demands. They are excited about exploring additional Pexip features as they roll out, ensuring that they always stay one step ahead when it comes to video conferencing solutions.
“It was great when Direct Guest Join came out, and even better when Pexip Connect was introduced. We get the benefit of continuous improvement,” the Engineer notes.
“If you’re having problems or need a better experience, look closely at Pexip. Their team works with you through every step of the process – from compliance to technical integration – and the results speak for themselves.”
